You have taken a giant step toward a more confident you, and we want you to feel optimally prepared for every phase of your treatment.
You can take certain steps in the time leading up to and following your Himplant procedure. As your Himplant specialist in Miami, we are here to provide you with the best overall treatment experience. Our goal is to make your preparation, procedure, and recovery as easy as possible, so you can achieve your best results.
For the best results and overall experience, it is important to consider the various aspects of your surgery, from comfort and safety to optimal healing.
The most vital step in preparing for your procedure is ensuring you allow yourself the time and space needed to achieve a full and stress-free recovery. Make sure all professional, personal, and social commitments are arranged or suspended until you can fulfill them without risking the quality of your recovery and results.
During your Himplant consultation process, your surgeon will assess your candidacy for treatment based on physical and psychological factors.
For uncircumcised patients, increased penile size can cause phimosis, a condition wherein the foreskin is unable to properly retract over the glans (head) of the penis. Therefore, if you are uncircumcised, you will need to undergo circumcision at least 8 weeks before your Himplant procedure so that your penis is fully healed.
You may be asked to alter or suspend the use of certain medications that could complicate your treatment, so it is important to disclose your medication history with your surgeon.
If you smoke or use tobacco products, you will need to stop at least 30 days before surgery and not resume use for at least 3 months after surgery. The use of tobacco products increases risks associated with anesthesia, surgical site infection, wound healing, scarring, and other complications. You should abstain from drinking and focus on healthy eating to let your body heal after surgery.
We recommend that you bring comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that is easy to put on and take off after your procedure. It is also a good idea to wear slide-on shoes to prevent you from having to lean forward to pull, tie, or secure them.
We encourage you to think about your recovery space ahead of time to prevent unnecessary stress or difficulty after your procedure.
For example, make sure you have a clear walking space from your bed to your bathroom, stock up on frozen or ready-made meals, keep water bottles within reach, and place any desired electronics or books nearby to help you relax.
In addition, your surgeon will provide you with any necessary prescriptions, such as for antibiotics and pain medication, prior to your procedure. We can arrange to have the medications sent to your home or hotel prior to your surgery day.
You will need to fast for at least eight hours before your procedure.. Your doctor will advise you if there are any medications you should stop taking before the procedure.
Following surgery you will need to have someone drive you home and initially help care for you. If you do not have a friend or family member available, we have partnered with an excellent nursing service that provides both transportation and post-operative care. Our surgical concierge can help arrange for this service prior to your day of surgery.
This usually takes a few hours. It’s normal to feel nauseous, dizzy, and drowsy, and some patients may get a headache. As soon as you are home, you will need to lie down on your back and relax to help your body recover. You should walk around as little as possible. If you need to go to the bathroom, it is a good idea to have your companion assist you with walking as well as getting in and out of bed.
Our team will review post-operative wound care in detail at your pre-operative visit. After surgery, please refrain from any unnecessary manipulation of the penis.
You should take your prescription medications as directed to prevent complications and minimize discomfort. Following surgery our team will perform daily evaluations for at least three consecutive days to assess healing, change surgical dressings, and remove your surgical drain. For out of town patients staying in nearby hotels, these evaluations can take place in the comfort of your hotel room.
The initial weeks following surgery are a time for relaxation, rest, and recovery. No exercise or strenuous activity should be undertaken until cleared by our team. While precise timelines vary depending on your recovery, most patients are cleared for light upper-body exercise four weeks after surgery, light lower-body workouts after six weeks, and full workouts at eight weeks. You will need to wear a compressive garment called a UroWrap during any strenuous exercise for six months after your Himplant placement.
It is essential that you do not engage in any sexual activity, including masturbation, until cleared by your surgeon to prevent medical or cosmetic complications.
Most patients are cleared for sexual activity eight weeks aftertheir procedure, but individual healing time varies. Our team will provide detailed instructions and tips prior to your initial sexual experiences following surgery. Initially, lubricant is essential for safe and comfortable sex for you and your partner. Given the significant increase in your penis size and a typically 8-week period without sex, your partner may need to prepare for your initial experiences. We can discuss particular preparation techniques and provide recommendations on exercises for your partner.
We are here for you throughout the duration of your treatment, from consultation to results. Do not hesitate to contact Miami Men’s with any questions you may have regarding your Himplant procedure, preparation, or recovery.
